Описание

Сент-Джонс-Вуд — самая северная часть Вестминстера со своей интереснейшей историей. Сюда Конан Дойль поселил возлюбленную Шерлока Холмса. Здесь находятся тот самый перекрёсток с культовой обложки альбома Abbey Road и студия, где битлы записывали свои хиты. Тут жил внук Зигмунда Фрейда. Я знаю ещё много фактов об этом удивительном районе и обязательно поделюсь ими на прогулке.

Немного истории
Сент-Джонс-Вуд, в самом центре Лондона, похож на частный посёлок с виллами и уютными придомовыми садиками. Такой облик района появился ещё в 19 веке, когда семья Эйр, владевшая этими землями, решила спроектировать идеальный пригород Лондона. В 50-х годах 19 века сюда уже ходили омнибусы, а в 1868 году здесь открылась первая станция метро Marlborough Road. Сейчас тут расположены сразу три синагоги, а также центральная мечеть города и многочисленные христианские храмы.

Сыщик, внук Фрейда и русский дипломат
Я расскажу, как район связан с «Битлз» и Шерлоком Холмсом. Вы узнаете, где находится шикарная резиденция американского посла и какой важный след оставил тут русский дипломат — граф Семён Воронцов. Увидите первое место жительства в Лондоне британского художника Люсьена Фрейда — внука Зигмунда Фрейда. Мы погуляем по Риджентс парку, поговорим об одной из важнейших национальных британских игр и найдём в Лондоне её «дом».
