Описание

Пустыня таит много странностей, древностей и чудес. Как в жаркие пески попали останки китов, вымерших миллионы лет назад? Почему от огромного пресного озера с крокодилами осталась только пятая часть? Как вообще это озеро образовалось в пустыне? Мы знаем ответы на ваши вопросы! Но для начала покажем, что прячут пески — загадки Древнего Египта доступны только тем, кто их ищет.

Что вас ожидает

  • Оазис Фаюм. В древности его называли египетским садом — тогда размеры оазиса были в разы больше сегодняшнего. Фараон Аменемхет около 4000 лет назад приказал искусственно вырыть озеро, которое наполнялось водой из Нила и называлось Меридово.
  • Солёное озеро Карун — пятая часть древнеегипетского Меридова озера. В древности на его берегах водились крокодилы, которые обожествлялись местными жителями. Даже город Шедит, расположенный на берегу озера, называли из-за этого Крокодилополь. Отдавая дань прошлому, крокодилов разводят и сейчас, но только в отдельных водоёмах.
  • Вади аль-Хитан (Долина китов) — удалённый участок в Западной пустыне Египта с бесценной коллекцией окаменевших костей древних китов, которых называют археоцеты. Возраст скелетов не менее 50 млн лет. Вы узнаете, как останки китов оказались в пустыне, а также когда и кем они были обнаружены.
  • По пути к Долине китов мы заедем полюбоваться на водопад Вади аль-Райан. А после отправимся пить чай в деревню бедуинов.
