Неповторимое очарование Старого города
Начало экскурсии от базилики «Нотр-Дам», несмотря на свою известность — это не собор, а приходская церковь, получившая титул базилики за вклад в становление Монреаля. Поговорим об истории храма, памятнике основателям Монреаля и всех зданиях на площади. Пройдём к улице де ла Коммюн, где вы увидите реку Сен-Лоран — главный водный путь, по которому прибывали на остров все путешественники. Из Старого порта вам откроется прекрасный вид на острова Святой Елены и Нотр-Дам. На Королевской площади я покажу место, откуда начинался Монреаль. А у памятников английскому адмиралу Нельсону и французскому морскому офицеру Жану Воклэну обратимся к колоритной монреальской традиции «французское — английское».

Изобретательность и предприимчивость на улицах Монреаля
По главной улице Старого города, Сен-Поль, дойдём до оживлённой площади Жак-Картье с массой ресторанов и кафе. Я расскажу, как предприниматели в начале 19 века сделали огромное состояние на обустройстве этой площади. Рынок Бонсекюр, похожий на театр или административное здание, никак не подпадает под категорию торговли овощами, фруктами, мясом, но это было в прошлом. Вы узнаете, как его перепрофилировали, сохранив коммерческое начало. Возле скульптурной группы, посвящённой первой учительнице города, оцените изобретательность государственных управляющих в решении демографической проблемы. Также я выведу вас к улице Сен-Жак — бывшему монреальскому Уолл-стрит, где в каждом здании в начале 20 столетия располагался банк или страховая компания.

Старый Монреаль в лицах
Я расскажу, как отреставрированная часовня Бонсекюр на одноимённой улице стала героиней одной из самых прекрасных песен о Монреале, созданной известным певцом и музыкантом Леонардом Коэном. По улице Нотр-Дам дойдем до замка Рамзе, где Бенджамин Франклин безуспешно пытался убедить монреальцев перейти на сторону США. Здание Монреальской мэрии напомнит о визите Шарля де Голля и дипломатическом скандале между Канадой и Францией, вызванном произнесённой им речью. Название здания Кадиллак напоминает, что легендарный француз имел дом на этом месте и отсюда отправился на освоение новых земель в Северной Америке. Именно в честь основателя города Детройта была названа автомобильная компания Кадиллак.

Моя семья получила удовольствие от экскурсии проведенной Людмилой! Она прекрасный рассказчик! Мы увидели и познакомились с Монреалем во всей его калорийности. Мы были в городе всего один день и очень благодарны Людмиле за уделённое нам время несмотря на холодную Канадскую погоду. Людмила это профессионал своего дела влюблённый в историю Канады. Мы наслаждались интересным рассказом о достопримечательностях старого города, прошли все красиаые улочки любуясь историческими зданиями и памятниками архитектуры про которые услышали множество увлекательных деталей.
